Bienvenidos

Hey everyone,
I am finally in Buenos Aires, and it is an amazing city! There is so much to do it´s overwhelming. So far I have just been getting settled in. My host family is an old retired couple , and they speak no English. I was really surprised by how well I was able to communicate with them. Also, almost no one around the city speaks English as well; so I should be able to speak Spanish really well by the time I return to the states. Getting a cell phone was probably the most difficult experience thus far because I do not completely understand the terms and guidelines of buying the phone in Spanish; my roommate and I spend almost two hours attempting to buy phones yesterday and we cannot get them to work. Communicating with other students is difficult so far because not everyone has a phone to call to meet up, and I do not have access to internet at my house. After a couple of weeks, everything will be a lot easier though. Also the nightlife is really cool here! I met some Argentinian girls at a bar the other night, some who spoke English and were willing to help with my Spanish. I will be posting pictures as soon as the rain lets up so I can bring my computer out!

  2. sounds like you are having fun! I bet your Spanish has already improved. And yeah, cell phones are difficult. I made my host mom come with me when I went to get my cell in France. It kind of helped. At least she could try to better explain to me. And she kind of understood what I needed. Oh and then I also had her enter my pay-as-you-go minutes because i couldn't understand the automated French and didn't know when to enter the code! But once I got the next set of mintues, i def understood French a lot better, haha.

Anyway, I hope you keep having an awesome time. I'm kind of jealous that you are already abroad, I want to be in Senegal already!

    peace.
